Bombardier secures $126 million Q400 order

Order includes four turboprop airliners for Luxembourg-based airline

TORONTO—Bombardier says it has secured an order for four Q400 NextGen high-speed turboprop airliners by the national airline of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The order placed by Luxair is valued at approximately US$126 million.

The transaction also included options for an additional four Q400 NextGen aircraft.

Luxair placed a firm order for three Q400 airliners in 2006, prior to the product enhancements that earned the “NextGen” designation.

It placed subsequent orders for two additional Q400 turboprop aircraft.

The Q400, built at Bombardier’s Toronto assembly plant, has been a point of concern for the aerospace firm. A number of accidents have been associated to the craft’s landing gear, including eight non-lethal accidents in 2007.
