The Montreal Manufacturing Technology Show ran May 14th-16th 2012 with renewed energy and a larger footprint compared to the 2010 version. Nick Samain, Group Show Manager for SME Canada declared, “when we were planning for the show we were marketing to the exhibitors more than two years ago. Many commit in advance long before the show starts. Back in 2010 it was a different time for the economy in Quebec as well as for the global economy, with manufacturing being one of the most hit sectors. In 2010 we didn’t have the type of representation from major distributors we have in 2012. Companies like Mazak, Mori Seki, Okuma, and Doosan just to name a few have come back. When we added up the roster for heavy equipment at this show we had 40 percent more units of heavy equipment on the show floor. It made a fantastic experience for the attendees that came in.”

Semain notes that floor space was up 15 percent over the 2010 edition.

“The technology on the show floor, which is the real value to the Quebec manufacturing professional comparing equipment side by side, has been beyond our expectations”, added Semain. Show attendees were noted from the aerospace, transportation, mining, energy, agrifood and “high-tech” sectors. States Semain: “It ran through the supply chain and really drove the message that this is Quebec’s major manufacturing event. It’s been a big partnership not only with us as show organizers, but with heavyweights in Quebec who are global leaders. It should make every Quebecer very proud.”
