Seco Tools earns recognition for John Deere cost-reduction opportunities process
Seco Tools, LLC has earned recognition for its participation in the John Deere Cost Reduction Opportunities Process (JD CROP), a supplier suggestion process that is part of Deere & Company’s Achieving Excellence program. Seco received the honour for providing cost-reduction ideas of outstanding quality and for demonstrating its commitment to continuous improvement.

Seco supplies John Deere with metal cutting tools and applications support. Suppliers who participate in the Achieving Excellence program are evaluated annually in several key performance categories, including quality, cost management, delivery, technical support and wavelength, which is a measure of responsiveness. John Deere Supply Management created the program in 1991 to provide a supplier evaluation and feedback process that promotes continuous improvement.According to Kurt Nordlund, president of Seco Tools, LLC, Deere & Company has thousands of indirect suppliers on a global basis, all of which are eligible for this award. “Being selected is quite an achievement, honor and is recognition of Seco’s efforts and dedication.”Bob Billger, Seco international key account manager for Deere & Company, also noted, “This award validates the importance of Seco’s work at John Deere shop locations worldwide in reducing manufacturing costs and improving productivity.” Seco will receive its award at the Achieving Excellence Award Banquet in Moline, Ill., held on Feb. 18, 2014. Nordlund, Billger and Jeff Smith, North Central regional manager, will accept the award for Seco.
