DMG Mori’s Chicago Innovation Days features demonstrations and seminars

Over 1,000 guests were expected to visit DMG Mori’s 2016 Chicago Innovation Days at the Hoffman Estates, Ill., location.

Thirty-three machines, including two premiere introductions for the U.S., were featured during DMG Mori’s Chicago Innovation Days, in Hoffman Estates, Ill. in May. Over 1,000 guests were expected to tour the 42,000-sq.-ft. showroom and attend a series of seminars addressing advanced technologies and the latest industry trends and developments.

The two U.S. premieres were:

1. SPINT 32-5 automatic lathe equipped with a SWISSTYPEkit for fixed and sliding headstock turning of bar materials up to 1.26 in. The compact machine, with a footprint of 30.1 sq. ft., has a work area for parts up to 1.3 in. diameter by 23.6 in. It has five linear axes, and a C axis on the main spindle, and two independent tool carriers with space for up to 22 tools.

2. CTX gamma 2000 TC turn and milling machining centre with the new compactMASTER® turning/milling spindle for complete machining in one setup. In this second-generation machine tool, X-travel has been increased to 31.5 in. and torque has been increased to 162.3 ft.-lbs.
