Micom Laboratories Inc., Dorval, Que., has purchased an additional Q-Fog CCT 1100 salt spray fog corrosion tester to accommodate an increasing demand for corrosion tests and accelerated aging tests using simulated, real-world atmospheric conditions.
The company uses ASTM B117 and ASTM G-85 as standard practices for corrosion testing. ASTM B117 provides guidelines as to the operation of a salt spray fog apparatus under static conditions, whereas ASTM G85 also provides guidelines under cyclic conditions.
With the salt spray fog corrosion tester, the company exposes various metals and coated metal samples to different atmospheric conditions and cycles created and managed in a controlled environment.
