IFS Coatings architectural powder coatings now have EPDs

Gainesville, Texas-based IFS Coatings has announced that each product in its architectural series—IFS 300SP and IFS 400SD powder coatings and IFS 500FP high-performance powder coatings—has an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

An EPD is an internationally recognized and standardized document, based on a life cycle assessment, that is used to communicate information about the potential environmental and human health impacts of a product. It states product ingredients and their effect across the entire life cycle, from raw material extraction to disposal.

The coatings feature no or low VOCs, no toxic compounds, and no toxic landfill created in manufacture or application. The powder can be reclaimed, recycled, and reused.

The EPDs meet the requirements of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED® V4 Green Building Rating System under the Material Resources credit for Building Product Disclosure and Optimization. They also meet the requirements of other green building ratings programs, such as BREEAM® and the WELL Building Standard®.
