Tungaloy Corp. has developed the new EcoTurn line of general-application turning inserts that are dimensionally smaller than standard ISO inserts. According to the manufacturer, these tools require fewer resources to manufacture, making them more economical and ecofriendly. Despite the smaller size, the performance is equal to standard-sized inserts.
These inserts have the same chipbreaker designs as the company’s other turning lines, as well as the same insert thicknesses. The chipbreakers include TSF, TM, SS, and SM types. These chipbreaker designations give the machinist a choice of inserts for finishing to medium-cutting applications for all four of the insert forms: CNMG, DNMG, TNMG, and WNMG.
To accommodate the new insert size, a series of Turning A toolholders that use a double-clamping design also has been released. The new toolholders are available for right- and left-hand cutting in metric and imperial dimensions.
These inserts are suitable for turning, facing, and profiling.
