January 2018 marks the 10th anniversary of Cambridge, Ont.-based Ferric Machinery Inc. The business started when co-owners Koen Verschingel and Sylvie Vanroose decided to put their extensive experience of sales and service of metal fabricating machinery towards a new endeavor.

Ten years ago the company started as a home-based business, with the pair working the phones, visiting clients, and renting warehouse space for storage. While consistently developing its customer base and strengthening customer relationships, Ferric Machinery Inc. was able to move into a newly built, 15,000-sq.-ft. showroom in Cambridge in 2015. The company currently has seven full-time people on staff.

“The strength of the company is offering quality products that are aggressively priced and backed up by dependable service,” said Verschingel.

The company’s product line consists of well-established brands in the Canadian fabricating industry: Ermaksan press brakes, shears, and fibre lasers; Akyapak plate and profile rolls, drill lines, and tube bending machines; Cosen band saws; Jonsen deburring and finishing machines; Cidan folding machines and cut to length lines; and Ferric HIW ironworkers.

Although the company’s primary focus is to supply new machinery, the owners realize the benefits of having an inventory of used machines. Ferric has a constantly changing supply of used equipment available.

The company has been able to offer sales and service across Canada with the support of partners in both eastern Canada (Rogers Electric & Machine, Bathurst, N.B.) and western Canada (Metal Nation Machinery, Lethbridge, Alta.).

“We would like to thank our customers over the past 10 years for their continuous support; they are the foundation of our success,” said the owners.

Ferric Machinery’s showroom is open during weekdays and by appointment on Saturday.

“Customers interested in fabricating equipment are welcome to have a tour to see the latest developments in new equipment and pre-owned machines on display,” said Verschingel.
