AXYZ Automation starts online COVID-19 forum

AXYZ Automation, Burlington, Ont., has created an online LinkedIn forum called Fabricators Fighting COVID-19 as a place that fabricators can share ideas, designs, and discussions to help fight COVID-19.

“This was inspired by our customers. Last week, we saw many of them begin using their CNC routers and waterjets to produce protective shields, face masks, and other PPE for front-line workers. I was really impressed with their innovation and compassion,” explained company President Luke Hansen-MacDonald.

When COVID-19 became an international pandemic, the company noticed that many of its customers were eager to help in the fight against the virus by fabricating innovative products for PPE and other safety supplies.

The problem was, however, there was no one place for them to share their ideas.

In just one week the equipment supplier received a tremendous response from businesses fabricating safety shields, face masks, and other essential products. If you’re company is making safety devices to fight against COVID-19, or would like to learn how, joining the online group at www.linkedin.com/groups/12386421 is a good place to start.

“In less than a week, we had 350 members sign up from all over the world. There are tons of new ideas shared each day and everyone is being incredibly supportive. I am proud to be part of the fabrication community,” said Hansen-MacDonald.

Most countries are facing a shortage of PPE and other essential products. AXYZ & WARDJet have thousands of customers who that would love to help solve this shortage. Hansen-MacDonald thinks that many more fabricators exist that would love help, but many of them may not realize what they can do to help.

One example of a success story that has already happened thanks to this group is a major grocery chain that was having trouble getting protective shields for their cashiers. AXYZ connected them with a handful of its customers who were not aware of the opportunity. These fabricators ended up producing thousands of shields.

“We did not make any money from it. We were just happy to know we were helping keep people safe and keep our customers busy. Sharing these ideas and designs will activate even more of our community to take up arms in the fight against COVID-19,” said Hansen-MacDonald.
