From March 21-24, TRUMPF opened its doors in Ditzingen, Germany, to visitors as part of its INTECH in-house exhibition. The event focused on sustainability and productivity in connected manufacturing.
Highlighted was Highspeed Eco, a process that the manufacturer says reduces gas consumption in laser cutting by as much as 60%. Also showcased was the nano-joint process, which reduces the size of the retaining tabs that connect parts to the sheet from which they have been cut by laser. Parts can be nested right next to each other, reducing the amount of waste material in the skeleton.
The company also demonstrated short-pulse lasers that eliminate the use of chemical cleaning agents, as well as the use of high-speed laser metal deposition to help reduce brake-disc wear in road traffic and thereby particulate emissions.
