Rocklinizer micro helps solve slug pullback with battery-operated portability

Rocklin Manufacturing has introduced the Rocklinizer micro, a battery-operated version of its Rocklinizer system designed to prevent slug pulling.
Slug pullback occurs when slugs, or the scrap produced during the punching process, are pulled up from underneath the panel or sheet being punched. The slug sticks to the punch face instead of falling out of the die, resulting in damage to the part and to the die.
To prevent this, the system deposits a thin layer of wear-resistant tungsten carbide material to the punch and inside the die button to prevent wear and galling and retain sharpness. It offers full portability for deposits from 0.0002 to 0.003 in. Electrode material is deposited by adjusting the unit’s LED power dial and triggering the hand-held rotary applicator.
The unit’s lithium-ion battery delivers about three hours of usage in one charge and can be rapidly recharged. Alternatively, the 10-lb. unit can also be used while plugged in for continuous use.
The tungsten carbide can be applied to worn or undersized punches and dies to reclaim desired tolerances. It also can be applied to new punches and dies to prevent wear before it occurs. Cutting clearance allowance and component alignment can be taken into consideration when selecting the amount of deposit required.
