Lincoln Electric of Canada has been presented with an ISO 50001 certificate, recognizing the work the company has done to manage its energy system.
This standard specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving an energy management system. The purpose is to enable an organization to follow a systematic approach in achieving continual improvement of energy performance, including energy efficiency, energy security, energy use and consumption.
At a ceremony on September, 23, 2014 at the Westin Prince Hotel in Toronto, Adel Mir, Director of Operations for Lincoln Electric Company of Canada, opened the event by saying that the team involved with achieving this certification was extremely proud.
“In case of an ISO system you need employee engagement and because of the Lincoln model focuses on profit sharing, we have great engagement – especially when it comes to cost savings. We had great management support, especially from Mr. Doria who was pushing this forward,” said Mir.
Hoss Parrandeh, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for UL DQS Inc., was on hand to present the plaque to Joseph G. Doria, Lincoln Electric Company of Canada’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
In his brief remarks, Doria thanked the team that achieved the ISO 50001 certification.
“The 50001 certification is a natural for us,” he said. “We save costs, but it is not just costs here. We, as people, have a responsibility to conserve energy. I think as we move forward we will see more and more companies do this 50001. It has a structure to it. It allows you to do something. It allows you to quantify what you achieve.”
