Miller's new Insight Core welding information management system

Real-time arc-on, deposition, and welding output information can be monitored from the new program.

Insight Core is a new welding information management system from Miller Electric Mfg. Co. that provides real-time data from the weld cell to help manufacturers improve productivity and quality.

The system is a flexible, Internet-based industrial welding information management solution that automatically collects and reports arc-on time, arc starts and quality performance based on amperage and voltage.

Insight Core is available in two configurations: One designed for the Miller Axcess family and one designed for Miller 14-pin compliant power sources (available 2014).

A field-installed retrofit module is designed for Miller power sources already in use, leveraging prior investments in an existing Miller welding fleet. Insight Core is also available as a factory-installed option on the Axcess product family of new power sources.

By using the program, manufacturers can assess welding performance information in real time from anywhere via the Internet. The system helps manufacturers assess two key performance indicators: productivity and quality.

A pre-configured dashboard reports a daily summary of key performance metrics. Manufacturers can use the Insight Core dashboard to monitor total arc-on-time percentage; get real-time visibility of welds outside of predetermined threshold limits for amperage and voltage; and set goals to raise the bar on corporate welding performance.

Additional custom reporting capability allows the creation of discreet views of the productivity and quality information at the fleet, weld cell or station level that be exported for off-line analysis.

Manufacturers can set custom goals within Insight Core, making it easy to establish continuous improvement targets and monitor progress of those initiatives. The tool can also help manufacturers identify productivity and quality trends or bottlenecks, identify potential operator training needs and better understand welding costs.

The data collected is automatically transmitted via either wired or wireless Ethernet connection. Manufacturers can then view company-wide performance using a standard web browser on any computer, tablet or smart phone. No additional software or mobile application needs to be installed or updated to view the information. The data is protected by a password-secured login system.

Access to 90 days of data is included with purchase of an Insight Core module. That means manufacturers pay no additional subscription fees for software or access to their productivity and quality information.
