Big Kaiser celebrates 30 years in business

Big Kaiser Precision Tooling, Hoffman Estates, Ill. a manufacturer of tooling systems, celebrated its 30th anniversary Aug. 1.

In August 1990 KPT Kaiser opened its doors in Switzerland and began making CKB modular boring tools. At that time most shops used boring tool technology from the 1950s, and tool changes were a costly and time-consuming process.

“I started the company out of necessity,” said President/CEO Chris Kaiser. “I knew we needed to change how we were selling the boring tools manufactured by my father’s company in Switzerland, Heinz Kaiser AG.”

Now a member of the Big Daishowa Group, the company plays an integral role in the parent company’s worldwide R&D and manufacturing strategy. It develops and sells high-performance toolholders, boring heads, workholding, and measuring instruments.

“After 30 years, I’m proud to say we’ve had a good number of customers from the very beginning,” said Kaiser.
