Advanced Manufacturing Expo to Showcase Latest Technology

SME’s Advanced Manufacturing Expo (AMExpo), featuring the RAPID Canada Conference and Exposition and Medical Manufacturing Innovations, will be held Sept. 23-24 at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ont.

The two-day event has more than 6,000 sq. ft. of exhibitor space featuring Canadian companies representing many of the major industry players in the 3-D printing/scanning and medical manufacturing sector.

“The factory of the future will be transformational; 3-D printers, automation, advanced materials, simulation of machines and processes, even controlling an entire factory from your smartphone,” said Debbie Holton, director of events and industry strategy at SME. “The speed of change continues to increase, and manufacturers need to see these advanced technologies in person and learn from the experts.”

These co-located events cater to numerous industries, including aerospace, automotive, energy, materials manufacturing, information technology, medical manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology. A single registration includes access to all three events.

AMExpo’s opening keynote speaker, Jason Lopes, lead systems engineer for Legacy Effects, will discuss how 3-D printing/scanning has enabled the creation of some of Hollywood’s most amazing special effects, including work on the movies “Avatar,” “Iron Man 3,” and “The Hunger Games.”

Targeted at both industry professionals as well as those looking to enter the 3-D printing market, the conference’s sessions offer speakers from COM DEV International, National Research Council, Creaform, the University of Waterloo, and Renishaw.

The entire event will host more than 50 booths showcasing the latest products and services in manufacturing.
