Mitcham Machine Tools (MMT), Toronto, has been named the exclusive Canadian distribution for Haas Multigrind grinders.
“The addition of Haas Multigrind enables MMT to expand its offering to key markets, including aerospace engine manufacturers in Canada. This is in keeping with MMT’s desire to supply top-quality, highly productive machine tools from Europe to our customer base in Canada,” said Tony Seccombe, president of MMT.
Haas Multigrind produces universal grinding machines for the aerospace, cutting tool, medical, and toolmaking industries. The company offers numerous grinding centres, which include precise 5-axis kinematics, plus features like automatic wheel changing, onboard wheel dressing, part and wheel probing, workholding, turnkey automation, and the company’s Horizon programming system.
“Haas Multigrind’s technology is a very strong match for Canadian markets like aero engine components, gears, tool and die, and cutting tools, to name a few,” said David Drechsler, business development manager – Americas for Haas Multigrind.
Machines are available to handle workpieces from 3 mm to 3 m long.
MMT expects that the addition of this equipment line will open new customer opportunities in high-precision, high-value applications like gear creation, cutting tool manufacturing, and mold and die.
“Mitcham Machine Tools is a family-owned company with a strong reputation for service and for building long-term relationships with customers,” said Drechsler. “Because they represent other high-end machine builders from Germany, they are accustomed to working with international partners to provide excellent support and service for their Canadian customers.”
