Siemens Technical Application Training Center (TAC) expansion supports evolving technologies

Siemens celebrated the grand reopening of its Technical Application Center in Elk Grove Village, Ill., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house in August. Digitalization and rapid changes in technology provided the impetus for expanding the machine lab that now features three milling machines, one turning centre, a Kuka robotic centre, and an NX-CAM training station.
The 3,150-sq.-ft. TAC also houses two classrooms that use SinuTrain software and Sinumerik CNC simulators during training.
Instructor-led, hands-on training; classroom training; and online, self-paced training cover topics including mixed-technology operations and programming, multichannel operation and programming, post-processor development, 4th-axis integration, and part and tool probe installation.
Sascha Fischer, business manager, Siemens Motion Control, Machine Tool Business, said, “Manufacturers are continuously looking for ways to train their employees on evolving CNC technologies as they transition to digital factories. Hands-on training and virtual programs like these are extremely important. We’re excited to offer machine tool users a more expansive program to develop their employees.”
A virtual TAC allows individuals to watch CNC training webinars online at no cost. Webinar topics range from milling and turning to general operations and service.
