Allied Machine and Engineering has released the Wohlhaupter VolCut insert holder, an expansion of its boring line. The rough boring system removes large volumes of material at high speeds and light feed rates in just one cut, the company states.
The boring system combines the modularity of the Wohlhaupter MVS connection with the company’s large-diameter holemaking tools. This combination increases material removal rates while maintaining good chip control, says the manufacturer.
The insert holder is available in bore diameters from 2.559 to 128.149 in. The indexable inserts shorten process times by allowing the tool to remain engaged in the spindle while worn cutting edges are changed out.
