Mikron Tool has released the CrazyMill Cool Micro for roughing and finishing in difficult-to-cut materials. The tools have integrated cooling and material-specific cutting edge geometries and are available in diameters from 0.2 to 1 mm with a milling depth of up to 5xD.
Designed for stainless steels, titanium and titanium alloys, heat-resistant alloys, and cobalt-chromium alloys, the tool is used predominantly for side and slot milling as well as spiral interpolation milling.
The company has created complex, high-performance cutting edge geometries on microsized milling cutters. They are available in two geometries.
Geometry S is for stainless steels, structural steels, non-ferrous metals, and titanium alloys. It is characterized by a higher cutting capacity for materials with a specific cutting force of less than 2,250 N/mm2.
Geometry SX, which has a special cutting edge protection, is suitable for materials with a specific cutting force greater than 2,250 N/mm2, such as heat-resistant alloys and cobalt-chromium alloys.
The tools have cooling channels integrated into the shank, which, thanks to a special shape, direct high quantities of cooling lubricant directly into the milling area. In addition, the cooling jet continuously flushes the chips away from the machining area.
These tools have the company’s Exedur SNP coating.
