Mitutoyo Corp. has introduced the Legex 4 CNC coordinate measuring machine (CMM), which achieves an MPE = (0.28+L/1,000) μm.
This system is suitable for manufacturers creating ultraprecise molds, components, and aspherical lenses in the automotive, aviation, and medical instrument industries. It also can be used for the calibration of master gauges for research institutes.
This CMM has a fixed-bridge structure with a moving table. The base is made from spheroidal graphite (ductile) cast iron with a sealed-structure design that provides high rigidity and vibration-attenuating characteristics, the company states.
It has a thermally symmetric structure and full covers around the main body to reduce possible impact caused by ambient temperature changes and includes a vibrationdampening unit.
