Doosan Machine Tools’ Puma SMX multitasking centre adds lower turret

Doosan Machine Tools has introduced the Puma SMX multitasking turning centre with a lower turret. The turret is available on both the 10-in. chuck (SMX2600ST) and the 12-in. chuck (SMX3100ST).

These twin-spindle, multitasking turning centres are built for completing complex parts in a single setup. Both turning spindles have 0.0001-degree resolution on the C axis for high-precision contouring, and the 12,000-RPM dedicated milling spindle has 0.0001-degree resolution contouring on the B axis. The Y-axis stroke is 11.8 in.

A 12-station static tool turret is standard on SMX ST models, and a 5,000-RPM milling turret is available as an option. The turret is also designed to accommodate steady rests, follow rests, tailstock centres, and 2-jaw vises.
