Saint-Gobain Abrasives Norton Quantum Prime grinding wheel increases number of parts per dress

Saint-Gobain Abrasives has introduced Norton Quantum Prime grinding wheels, which have a proprietary nano-crystalline ceramic grain. The new grain delivers high grinding efficiency and part quality, as well as significantly longer wheel life than traditional ceramic grains, the company states.
The micro-fracturing grain’s sharpness and cutting efficiency help reduce power draw and cycle times while increasing material removal rates, according to the company. This grain combined with the company’s Vitrium3 bond helps the wheel wear consistently, improving part quality, geometry, and finish even at high material removal rates. Self-sharpening grain technology helps extend wheel life and reduces dressing.
Applications for this technology includes OD, ID, centreless, gear, toolroom, disc, surface, flute, and creepfeed grinding and mounted wheels.
