On September 25, students in the Machinist Apprenticeship Program at the North Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in Edmonton were awarded scholarships at the annual dinner.

Nine students in their fourth year of the Machinist Apprenticeship Program received scholarships courtesy of Sandvik Coromant.

Seven of those recipients were given the Sandvik Coromant Award, based on top academic achievement in the fourth year of the program.

Two individuals also were presented with the Sandvik Coromant Leadership award. This award is given to the top student(s) who demonstrates initiative, creativity, and leadership.

"Our students have greatly benefitted by having both the financial support provided by the awards but also the opportunity to use the state of the art tooling that Sandvik Coromant is renowned for," said Malcolm Haines, Dean, School of Skilled Trades at NAIT.

“Support for education and sharing knowledge to gain the skillsets required by our industry is a priority at Sandvik Coromant," added Tom Henry, Partner Marketing Americas Manager at Sandvik Coromant. "The NAIT education partnership provides students with the opportunity to develop their skills leading to pathways to real world career advancement and we are proud to support that."
