Inventors develop pipe flange inspection tool

Two inventors from Trinidad have developed the Flange Chek Pro, a runout inspection tool for industrial pipe flanges, and submitted the design to the Toronto office of InventHelp. A prototype (TOR-9888) is available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers, and there is a patent pending.

"Standard flange facing tools are very expensive, heavy, bulky, and cumbersome to use. The tool we invented is inexpensive, lightweight, and more advanced. It also requires less manual labor than standard tools," said the inventors.

The tool provides a way to determine the condition of large flanges to decide whether facing is required. It eliminates the need to automatically deploy a flange refacing machine for each flanged connection. The tool’s lightweight, portable design allows it to be installed by two people.
