Walter has introduced WSM01, a grade designed for demanding machining applications. Coupled with the company’s new MS3 negative geometry, it produces burr-free results with high surface finish quality in hard materials such as high-temperature, titanium, cobalt-based, and INCONEL® alloys, the company states.
The HIPIMS (high power impulse magnetron sputtering) PVD coating method gives the grade a smooth surface for reduced friction in machining. The coating has excellent laser bonding and thickness distribution to help reduce flaking, states the manufacturer.
