Amada Miyachi America offers the IPB-5000A-MU inverter resistance welding power supply. It features a modified back panel that accommodates most of the company’s weld heads.
When paired with the ITB-780A6 transformer, the power supply has a maximum output of 6,000 amps, making it suitable for most resistive and conductive welding applications. It operates in constant current, voltage, or power feedback modes and also can weld in a combo mode (current and voltage) to address challenging applications and process conditions.
All of the new models feature built-in current-monitoring capabilities. Some units are capable of displacement monitoring, which includes part detection, initial part stackup, displacement during weld (amount the parts have collapsed during welding), and weld to displacement (shuts energy off when set displacement is met). By setting envelope limits, the user can determine immediately if the weld was good or bad.
