MKS Instruments Inc. has introduced the Ophir StarViewer iOS app, which delivers laser power and energy measurements wirelessly to iPhones and iPads. Data can be displayed in a time-based line graph, needle display, or large numeric display with statistics. Users also can capture a screenshot and share it, such as when a field technician needs to report results back to the lab.
The app is designed to work with the Ophir Ariel compact laser power meter for measuring high-power industrial lasers up to 8 kW. The system measures 440- to 550-nm green and blue lasers, used for copper welding; 900- to 1,100-nm fiber lasers for metal processing; 10.6-µm CO2 lasers; and 2.94-µm medical lasers.
