Harris Products’ Perfect Flame® removes flame variability for production brazing

The Harris Products Group has introduced the Perfect Flame® system for repetitive, high-volume, hand-held brazing applications. It includes torches, tips, flow control devices, and software.
With the built-in software, companies can duplicate flame settings across an organization. The software measures flame chemistry and flow rates and calculates temperatures and BTU values to determine and control the best flame in production environments. These flame attributes then are saved into the system as presets and assigned to a project or part type. The brazing flame can be replicated repeatedly.
By producing an engineered flame with the correct BTU setting, the system ensures that the proper amount of heat is being transferred, which prevents heat input problems and decreases the amount of time spent on each brazed joint.
The unit also features software that collects data on each operator, such as flame setup, gas usage, and torch-on time. Data is presented on a dashboard so that management can monitor brazing operations. This allows companies to apply Six Sigma principles–define, measure, analyze, improve, and control–to the brazing process.
Two models are available. The ST (single torch) allows the braze operator to toggle among five different settings. The MT (multiple torch) is suitable for high-production operations in which individual operators are brazing the same or different joints.
