CMTS at a Glance

Show floor features new technology, networking opportunity

Set for Sept. 25-28 at The International Centre, Mississauga, Ont., CMTS is the biggest event of its kind nationwide.

Innovation, professionalism, and more than 3 million pounds of manufacturing equipment will set the stage for the upcoming Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show (CMTS). The show brings together more than 700 suppliers that will present new technologies, practices, and industry connections to attendees.

Set for Sept. 25-28 at The International Centre, Mississauga, Ont., CMTS is the biggest event of its kind nationwide. CMTS provides an “invaluable” experience for its attendees, according to Neil Teague, president of Rice Tool & Manufacturing.

“We attend to educate ourselves on the latest machine tool models and features, as well as to get a feel for the local support that can be expected with these products. [Reading] about the latest technology or tools in the periodicals we receive can only go so far. I find the ability to attend CMTS to touch and see that same technology you read about is invaluable,” said Teague.

Held every two years, CMTS is widely known for being the main manufacturing event in Canada. Surpassing expectations set by CMTS 2013, CMTS 2015 had 405 exhibiting companies and 4,638 attending companies.

CMTS 2017 is expecting more than 9,000 attendees and over 700 suppliers. The show provides new networking and interactive experiences for visitors, along with opportunities to attend high-level technical sessions and keynote presentations from industry experts.

Visitors will see the latest in machine tools, tooling, forming, and fabricating technologies, as well as advanced manufacturing including additive manufacturing/3-D printing, automation, and robotics.

At the CMTS event, attendees will be able to not only witness innovative manufacturing technologies, but also get a hands-on learning experience. Hall 1 will exhibit advanced manufacturing such as composites, metals and advanced materials, contract manufacturing services, digital and additive manufacturing/3-D printing, integrated assembly, and robotics. Halls 2 to 4 will offer visitors the largest side-by-side comparison of live, working equipment in Canada, including machine tools, tooling, and other metalworking equipment.

The show starts with the opening keynote, “The Future Belongs to Those Who Are Fast!” featuring futurist Jim Carroll on Monday, Sept. 25, at 9:00 a.m.
