From June 14-16, Horn opened its doors at its Tübingen, Germany headquarters.

After four years, Paul Horn GmbH welcomed guests from all over the world back to its Tübingen, Germany headquarters for the Horn Technology Days.

From June 14 to 16, the cutting tool manufacturer opened the doors of its three facilities to showcase how it is “mastering processes,” the theme for this year’s event.

Plant 1 featured the company’s training department, highlighting its commitment to bringing young people into the manufacturing sector and providing them with the necessary skills to thrive; a demonstration centre, showcasing unique collaborations and advanced technology that are pushing manufacturing boundaries; and focus areas for medical, jewelry, and aerospace sector applications.

Plant 2 featured the company’s coating and additive manufacturing segments, along with production and application areas for wear parts, hydraulics, automotive, and tool and moldmaking.

The carbide production facility was open for visitors to get an in-depth look at how the company processes its carbide from powder to part.

Beyond that, the company offered eight unique technical presentations on topics such as high-power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS), a PVD coating technique; tools for an e-mobility future; turning, milling, and drilling of ultra-hard grade materials; and from enquiry to delivery in 7 days, a look at new quoting capabilities, where during the presentations an attendee had the chance to walk through the process of selecting toolholder dimensions and then have it produced on the factory floor for them to take home as a souvenir.

With more than 3,300 attendees from 37 countries, Horn highlighted its vision for the future.

“My father [Lothar] always said, standing still is not an option,” said Markus Horn, managing director. “That was true for him and it’s true for me and the whole company. While there will be some changes, we are focused on continuing the same values we’ve always had but taking some new and different approaches. It’s important for our employees and customers to know that continuity of our values is very important to us and that we are a reliable partner for all other companies.”

Lothar Horn passed away on February 5, 2023, at the age of 66 after a long, serious illness. He was the managing director of Paul Horn GmbH and shaped the Horn Group into an internationally successful manufacturer of precision tools with production sites in England, Italy, the Czech Republic, and the U.S. Additional subsidiaries exist in France, Hungary, China, Mexico, Turkey, and Thailand.

Horn, managing director Matthias Rommel, and member of the executive board, Andreas Vollmer, all expressed enthusiasm for the company’s future and the success of events like Technology Days, the next of which will take place in 2025.
