Honda starts CR-V production in Alliston

Addition of the CR-V makes Alliston plant the first to produce four separate models on same production line in North America.

ALLISTON—Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) started production of its 2012 CR-V SUV at the company’s assembly plant in Alliston, Ont.

The addition of the CR-V to HCM's production lineup makes it the first Honda plant in North America to produce four models—the Civic, CR-V, Acura MDX and Acura ZDX—on one line.

The four-wheel drive 2012 CR-V features a 2.4L, 185-horsepower engine and gets 9.2L/100km in the city and 6.6L/100km highway fuel effiency.

Last November marked Honda’s twenty-fifth anniversary in Canada at the Alliston plant, where it has built more than six million vehicles and invested more $2.6 billion. The company also says it purchase more than $1.1 billion in goods from Canadian suppliers every year.
