Hurco Companies Inc. celebrated its 50th anniversary with an open house event at its global headquarters in Indianapolis in March. About 400 customers and business colleagues toured the facility; viewed machine demonstrations; attended a 5-axis seminar presented by Mike Cope, Hurco application engineer, and author of the recently published book The Power of FIVE: The Definitive Guide to 5-Axis Machining; and interacted while participating in games and toasting the company’s milestone.
Greg Volovic, company president, conducted the champagne toast, and Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett participated in the toast and cake-cutting ceremony.
Guests had the opportunity to meet Funny Car champions John Force, Robert Hight, and Ed Carpenter; watch dispensing demonstrations and sample refreshments from Hurco customer Bottoms Up Beer; enjoy a continuous buffet and music; and watch and listen to a live FOX Sports radio broadcast.
A new 3D Import control option for Hurco controls was introduced. The feature includes 3-D DXF technology, which displays all geometry output by a CAD system, including splines. The bottom of a contour can be selected and the Z-axis depths will be automatically input into the conversational block.
Founded by Edward Humston and Gerald Roch (HUmston Roch Companies) in 1968, the machine tool producer has continually expanded and introduced new technology to its product line beginning with its first product, the Autobend computer-controlled backgauge, in 1969, through its series of horizontal machining centres introduced in 2017.
