Hurco Partners with Panther Dreyer & Reinbold Race Team for the 2013 IZOD IndyCar Season

Indianapolis, IN - Hurco Companies, Inc., announced it has renewed its strategic alliance with Panther Dreyer & Reinbold Racing (DRR) for the 2013 IZOD IndyCar Series season. The Panther DRR team selected Hurco as their exclusive CNC machine tool provider and has been using the Hurco 5-axis VMX42SR and mill turn TMX8MYS to make parts at their 30,000 square foot Indianapolis facility since 2011.

As a sponsor, the Hurco logo is featured on the team’s car, Hurco has VIP access to the team’s race facilities during the IZOD IndyCar season, and Hurco VIPs get a behind-the-scenes track experience you can’t buy. At DRR’s machine shop, lead machinist Shane Sievers, who started machining back in the days of punch tape, relies on Hurco’s conversational programming to make parts on the fly. “I’ll get a call when the team is on the race track and they’ll say they need a new part tomorrow morning. Sometimes I have a print. Sometimes I sketch it out on a piece of paper. The Hurco control makes it easy to get the part from my head to the control. That’s what I love about being a machinist for an IndyCar team. No day is ever the same. And our Hurcos are made to handle that kind of quick turnaround and the need for constant flexibility,” said Sievers.“Since both Hurco and DRR are based in Indianapolis, the racing capital of the world, it is fitting that Hurco plans to celebrate the company’s 45th anniversary with special customers by holding a VIP event in the month of May that promises to give guests the Indy racing experience of a lifetime,” says Phil Fassnacht, Marketing Director for Hurco Companies, Inc.“Dreyer & Reinbold has been an outstanding partner. At IMTS, the team’s driver, Oriol Servia, team co-owner Robbie Buhl, and lead machinist Shane Sievers conducted presentations at our booth, attended a special VIP event for customers, and autographed pictures and custom race helmets. They just do a great job accommodating us and our customers. With the behind-the-scenes access, such as attendance at the team meeting, in addition to the team’s friendliness, our customers get to experience the excitement of IndyCar and have a great time,” says Fassnacht. The racing season kicks off March 24th at St. Petersburg and then the road to Indy continues with the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama on April 7th, The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach April 21st, the Sao Paulo Indy 300 in Brazil, and finally the Indianapolis 500 on May 26th. www.hurco.com
