Jergens announces retirement of long-time Canadian rep

Jergens has announced that its long-time dedicated Canadian territories representative Tom Reid is retiring after 25 years.

Reid had been selling and servicing products from all three Jergens business units – workholding, lifting, and fasteners – since 1998.

“I feel very fortunate to have had such a productive relationship with so many of the folks at Jergens,” said Reid.

And the feelings are mutual.

“We appreciate his skills, support and accomplishments as one of the original Canadian Jergens Reps for the last two and a half decades,” said Matt Schron, vice-president and general manager for Jergens. “On behalf of the entire organization I want to thank Tom for his twenty-five-year partnership with us and to wish him and his family the very best in his retirement."

Reid began his career in manufacturing in 1979 following in his father’s footsteps. In those nearly 45 years, he has been a manufacturers agent, distributor, and Jergens Canadian sales manager of many industrial products.

In 1998 he began to rep Jergens and grew his agency to represent three other industrial product lines for all of Canada. In 2007, Reid saw and seized the opportunity to focus solely on Jergens for the remainder of his career.

Most recently, Reid has been supporting the transition over to Barry Schwartz as Jergens business development manager for the Canadian markets.

“I really appreciate all [Reid's] efforts and experience, it has made my position clear and the transition easier,” said Schwartz.

Reid is a father of three grown children – Eric, Adam, and Carly – and lives in Orangeville, Ont. with his wife Ali and their dog, Koko.
