In early October, Mazak hosted more than 100 Canadian guests at its North American headquarters in Florence, Ky. The event featured machine tool demonstrations, highlighted automation, and showcased advanced digital systems designed to give manufacturers a competitive advantage.
According to David Andrews, general manager of Mazak Corp. Canada, Cambridge, Ont., 61 shops from seven provinces were represented at the event. DISCOVER was anchored by the theme “Learn more. Do more. Make more.” The event offered visitors the opportunity to learn about the company’s multitasking, high production, advanced manufacturing, and job shop technology.
Job shop technology shown included the company’s Ez series of machines. Designed and manufactured in Florence, the series includes vertical, turning, and multitasking machining centres.
The high-production technology action area showcased the SYNCREX series of Swiss-style machines designed for high-volume production of small, precise parts.
Among the featured machines in the multitasking area were the INTEGREX and QUICK TURN series that combine multiple operations from processing of raw materials to finished part for increased cost efficiency and flexibility.
The advanced manufacturing technology action area focused on the NEO series of machines, which includes the VARIAXIS NEO series of 5-axis machining centres, the HCN-5000 NEO horizontal machining centre, and the VC-500A/5X HWD HYBRID multitasking machine. All machines are powered by MAZATROL Smooth CNCs.
Importantly, attendees had the opportunity to explore the entire Mazak campus and witness Mazaks building Mazaks in real time. Tours of the new 27,000-sq.-ft. SYNCREX production facility that combines engineering, production, and applications support were also available.
