Sirco Machinery donates to Georgian College

Dan Ferko, president of Sirco Machinery, Toronto, a Haas Factory Outlet, recently visited Georgian College, Barrie, Ont., to present a cheque for US$40,000 to senior staff and faculty.

These funds are allocated for scholarships to students in the Mechanical Technician – Precision Skills program at the college who achieve an average of 75 per cent or higher in their third semester. This donation was given through the Gene Haas Foundation, which supports growth in the manufacturing workforce by investing in the training of skilled workers.

“We are committed to helping students achieve their goals of pursuing a career in the trades,” said Ferko. “These scholarships help students achieve success by allowing them to focus on their studies. We are confident they will go on to become the leaders and innovators of the future.”

Since 2014 the Gene Haas Foundation has donated more than US$134,000.00 in scholarship grants to Georgian College, with more than 100 students receiving benefits from the scholarship fund.

This year 32 students each received $1,717 in scholarships, courtesy of the foundation.
