Dormer Pramet HM geometry designed to reduce vibration

Dormer Pramet has introduced the HM geometry for its double-sided Pramet SNGX 11 high-feed milling tools. The HM geometry is suitable for use on hardened steels and cast irons.

This addition extends the application range of the cutter family, which already includes the M geometry for steels and cast steels, and the MM for stainless steels, soft steels, and superalloys.

The new geometry has a narrow, highly negative T-land, as well as a positive rake to help reduce vibration and enable a smoother cutting action. Together, these improve the durability and process security and prolong tool life, the company states.
