Insert grade designed for milling heat-resistant super alloys

With the expansion of the WSM45X range, Walter has introduced the high-performance Tiger∙tec Silver WSM45X indexable insert grade for the Xtra∙tec XT milling cutters, including the M5130 shoulder mills, the M5008 high-feed mills, and the M5468 copy mills and also for the Walter BLAXX F5041 the F5141 shoulder milling cutters.

The insert grade is designed for milling heat-resistant super alloys, including titanium alloys, and stainless steels (ISO S and M workpiece groups).

The grade’s combination of a special carbide substrate that is wear-resistant, yet tough and a unique aluminum oxide (Al2O3) chemical vapor deposition (CVD) coating, ensures a high level of process reliability, according to the company.

The Tiger∙tec Silver coating effectively protects the substrate against excessive heat degradation and the smooth surface reduces the formation of built-up edge. The two-tone coating also enables reliable insert wear detection.
