Turning Tools With New Chip Breakers

Tungaloy has expanded its EcoTurn turning line, reducing the size of the insert while maintaining the insert’s thickness and adding new chip breaker geometries.

The new ZF chip breaker is suitable for finishing applications and has an operating range of 0.2 to 1.5 mm DOC. Feed rates are 0.07 to 0.2 mm per revolution.

The new ZM chip breaker is used for medium cutting and has an operating range of 0.7 to 2.0 mm DOC, making it suitable for profiling.

Both of these new chip breakers are offered in the T9115 and T9125 CVD PremiumTec-coated grades.

These new versions join the TSF and TM chip breakers, making the family capable of machining from 0.2 to 3.0 mm DOC with feed rates from 0.08 to 0.5 mm per revolution.

When turning stainless steels and exotics, these tools are available with the SS chip breaker for finishing and the SM for medium cutting. The inserts also are available in PVD PremiumTec- coated AH630 and AH645 grades and CVD PremiumTec-coated T6120 and T6130.

This family of tools now has six chip breaker options and eight grade options, including coated and uncoated cermets.
