IMTS 2014 Preview: PRAB

Check out PRAB at IMTS at booth N-7288, where their engineers will be on hand to discuss their products and features.

PRAB engineers will be on hand at IMTS in Booth N-7288 to discuss and demonstrate the efficiency and benefits of modular chip processing systems, stamping scrap handling, and fluid filtration and recycling. Featured in the booth will be a working demonstration unit of the new Quick Return (QR) Conveyor, PRAB’s redesigned horizontal motion conveyor. The conveyor features a single drive that allows it to easily fit into existing pits. Its smooth push/pull motion delivers quieter operation in comparison to other conveyors that move material using a throw/pull action. “We’re proud to unveil our new PRAB Quick Return Conveyor during IMTS 2014,” said Mike Hill, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for PRAB. “With manufacturing continuously seeking process improvements, downtime and unscheduled maintenance can significantly cut into a facility’s bottom line. The redesigned QR Conveyor drive was built to increase equipment utilization and longevity. The new conveyor updates offer the best value to industry, and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to equipment quality and dependability.”

Equipment being displayed in PRAB’s booth at IMTS 2014 will include:

Modular Chip Systems

  • Visitors will be transported into a 3D animation of a full-scale chip processing system, highlighting the details of processing scrap and collecting fluids. The animation takes viewers through the system, seeing efficient scrap metal processing from initial separation to final load out. PRAB’s modular chip processing system is engineered in prewired modules, allowing OEM’s and large tiered suppliers to have a system up and running in a few weeks, as opposed to the months it can take for traditional systems.
  • Processes solids and metal chip scrap, collects fluids, and weighs metal scrap for efficient container loading
  • Custom engineered to meet capacity and processing needs
  • Modular design allows for quick installation and controls integration in just weeks
  • Fully automated for optimum scrap management

Quick Return Conveyor

  • This newly redesigned conveyor offers durable, reliable operation in the removal of scrap away from a press or other cutting and stamping operations. The QR Conveyor uses horizontal motion that gently propels material forward without vibration or springs. The single drive design allows for adaptive layouts that will fit into existing pits.
  • Quickly and reliably moves scrap metal of any shape and thickness
  • Suitable for use with laser, plasma, single press dedicated units, or as a transfer system for plant-wide application over long horizontal distances

Diagonal-Shaft Wringer

  • PRAB's heavy-duty wringers use up to 700 Gs of force to reclaim up to 98 percent of valuable coolant and cutting oils from aluminum, brass, cast iron, steel, stainless steel and other metal chips for:
    • Increasing scrap worth by producing more valuable dry chips
    • Reducing hazardous fluid disposal costs and protecting the environment
    • Recycling fluids back into the metalworking process

Paper Bed Filter

  • PRAB’s Paper Bed Filter extends coolant and tool life, increases surface finish an average of 27%, and controls bacteria with flow rates of 130 gpm or more. The Paper Bed Filter is suitable for applications of low to medium stock removal of ferrous and non-ferrous metals with a clarity of one micron.
  • Automated self-cleaning for continuous operation. Filtering surface is automatically indexed for optimal filtration and efficient media use.
  • Drum-type paper bed filters occupy one-third the floor space of a traditional paper bed filter, with flow rates up to 500 gpm
  • Available with optional Magnetic Separator for trapping ferrous material, and integral chiller for removing heat from coolant and extending tool life.
