Mazak has introduced the HQR-200MSY multitasking turning centre with two spindles and upper and lower turrets.
Twin opposed turning spindles each deliver 30 HP and speeds of 5,000 RPM, with full C-axis control of part positioning and contouring at a resolution of 0.0001 degrees. Additionally, the upper and lower 12-station tool turrets enable balanced cutting and accommodate fixed or rotating tools. Both turrets are capable of Y-axis travel that enables off-centreline machining with 7.5-HP spindles for milling.
The machine can handle barstock diameters up to 2.55 in.
Because the twin turrets can operate independently or together on the same part, the machine can produce two separate features simultaneously. Alternately, balanced machining strategies permit two tools to work together on the same feature for rough and finish turning, rough and finish milling, or opposed feature drilling, tapping, or boring with the Y axes.
