New look, new perspective for FMA

Organization rebrands to better reflect its place in the industry

FMA workforce lifecycle

FMA supports manufacturing’s workforce lifecycle.

You might have noticed a different look connected with Canadian Fabricating & Welding’s parent company, the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association. The organization has gone through a rebranding process to better reflect its place in the industry.

The FMA rebrand aims for the organization to stand out visually and highlights its mission: to shape the future of our industry, and in turn shape the world. The new logo and colour scheme are unique in the metal fabricating industry, coinciding with FMA’s unique purpose.

Whereas other associations are dedicated to political advocacy or standards development, FMA supports manufacturing’s workforce lifecycle, from exposing students to manufacturing careers through summer camps, supporting them in their education with scholarships, updating them on the latest technological advancements through publications and trade shows, to educating them through conferences and certificate programs. By following through on these commitments, FMA truly stands out in its bid to shape the world.

Canadian Fabricating & Welding readers will know the organization best for its trade shows here in Canada (FABTECH Canada and our MME tabletop shows), the magazine itself, and its press brake training courses. Course offerings have expanded to include online courses on blueprints and part layout, hand tools, and an introduction to lasers, among others.

What many Canadian readers may not know is the outreach of the organization’s foundation, Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs, which supports summer camps to introduce young people to manufacturing as a potential future pursuit. Several camps have been supported in Canada, but the organization hopes to grow that presence in future years.

As Brenco Founder Steve Heim mentioned in the last issue, he personally gained a great deal from being a member of FMA.

“My experience with the FMA has been invaluable,” said Steve. “Whether it was board service or committee service, just being able to reach out and develop relationships with like-minded people across the continent was a huge asset.”

FMA hopes to express that in its rebranding. We at Canadian Fabricating & Welding will do our best to keep you abreast of all the opportunities to engage with others here in Canada and throughout North America.
