Robotic beam cutting machine performs automated cutting of structural parts

Beamcut Systems has updated its BC25, a robotic 3D CNC cell and platform for cutting metal parts and profiles. With high-definition Hypertherm plasma technology and FANUC robotics, the automated 6-axis beam cutting system offers repeatability and accuracy while eliminating layout work before cutting and grinding after cutting, the manufacturer reports.

Proprietary Beamcut Soft software uses DSTV files from 3D profiling software and 2D DXF AutoCAD files. Once files are imported, the software automatically simulates the cutting sequence. An automatic cutting trajectory is created and verified on the drafting computer instead of the machine.

The small-footprint machine features automated infeed and outfeed and a photo-laser measuring device for fast profiling and positioning. It incorporates a safety enclosure and smoke trap that delimits the space required for robotic cutting and the circulation area around the system. An optional dust collector is available to remove smoke and dust particles.
